To elevate scientific literacy for ALL

Our Mission

  • Advisory

Creating new approaches or researching novel phenomena can be daunting and requires unique perspectives. 5S provides that with years of experience serving on steering committees and board leadership that improved outcomes for ALL. Recent work includes Biotechnology, Environmental Resiliency, and Veteran Services in Higher Education grant support.

Encouraging open dialogue through “5-Why”, hands-on experiences, and critical thinking exercises can help groups foster curiosity and build a strong foundation for reaching and surpassing their yearly benchmarks.

  • Advocacy

Promoting scientific literacy equips people with tools to evaluate evidence, think critically, and discern credible information in an increasingly complex world.

Investing in scientific education for all ensures that future generations can innovate, adapt, and contribute meaningfully to solving global challenges. Research on the retention of Black STEM professionals and the economic mobility self-efficacy of Underserved Communities is currently being conducted. Contact us to collaborate.

  • Science Literacy

Scientific literacy is the ability to understand, interpret, and apply scientific concepts and processes to everyday life, enabling informed decision-making.

It involves critically evaluating evidence, distinguishing between credible and unreliable information, and understanding the impact of science on society and the environment. 5S strives to see a world where the water crisis in Flint, Michigan, never happens again, and Science Literacy is the way.
